What Kind Of Cases Do We Take?

Harper Law started as a boutique litigation firm and maintains an active practice helping individuals and businesses resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation in the Arizona State and federal courts. Although a great deal of our practice focuses on real estate, business and employment litigation, we have experience handling a wide variety of civil matters. 

Stemming from our litigation background, Arizona attorney Kevin Harper and the other lawyers in our firm are also uniquely equipped to help you or your business negotiate and draft contracts to help avoid future disputes and ensure your interests are protected in the event such a dispute does arise.  Over the years we have developed additional areas of expertise and a network of excellent attorneys at other law firms if your problem is not one that we are prepared to handle.

A Brief History Of Our Arizona Law Firm

Harper Law PLC was established in 2003 by attorney Kevin Harper, who leveraged his background working with some of Arizona's premier mid-size firms, and one of the nation's largest mega-firms, to form an Arizona law firm dedicated to providing the quality of work provided by bigger firms combined with lower costs and individualized attention.

Harper Law's primary office was located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona until November, 2010, when we relocated to Gilbert, Arizona. To serve clients on the other side of the valley and in southern Arizona, Harper Law also has branch offices in North Phoenix and Tucson.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2011, the Harper Law's hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Today will be a hectic day with limited availability. Unfortunately, due to a medical emergency Barbara, our office manager and the heart of the whole operation around here, will not be in the office. She's okay, but her husband Walt had an emergency appendectomy in the middle of the night.

Attorney Kevin Harper is working at the Firm's Gilbert, Arizona office, but has several client meetings and will be otherwise unavailable for most of the day working to complete projects with impending deadlines. Attorney Brian Stines will be working at the Firm's Phoenix office and assisting Kevin with legal research and writing.

Why We Moved

Harper Law recently moved its "headquarters" (that's an awfully daunting term for a modest operation like ours) from a downtown Phoenix, Arizona high-rise to a Gilbert, Arizona mixed retail/office shopping center. As part of that move, in order to serve clients on the other side of the valley, we also opened a branch office in north Phoenix. Our new offices are great, but not typical for a law firm, and many have inquired why we made the move.

The reasons are many, but more than anything else the high costs associated with premium downtown real estate just don't seem to make sense in today's world. Our central-Phoenix office was roughly 2,300 square feet with a reception area, conference room, library, kitchen, storage room, and 4 offices. We paid for all of that, plus the high costs associated with telephone and internet service.

After the move we've got all of that and more, for a fraction of the price. The difference is that we share mosts of the costs for the things we don't use nearly as much, like the conference rooms, reception areas, and kitchen, with other tenants in an executive suite environment. By doing so we're able to offer two locations, much larger conference rooms, and a stepped-up technological capability, while enjoying cost savings that will allow us to better serve our clients.

The other big benefit to Harper Law's employees is bringing the office much closer to home. One of our attorneys works primarily in the north Phoenix office and has cut his commute in half. The other employees, including Mr. Harper, live in Gilbert, and have added almost two hours per day of productive time by eliminating the commute to downtown Phoenix.

Harper Law was founded and based in downtown Phoenix in 2004, and the move away from downtown was taken with some trepidation. But we're convinced that modern technology makes our location virtually irrelevant. Harper Law has served clients from all over the State of Arizona, and elsewhere, over the years, and it is no less equipped to do so now. Indeed, the benefits from the move will allow us to better serve our clients in the long run.

Attorney Kevin Harper is working at the Firm's Gilbert, Arizona office, and has two client meetings scheduled throughout the morning. Attorney Brian Stines is working at the Firm's Phoenix office.

Of course, in addition to scheduled meetings the attorneys will be working on ongoing case matters. Significantly, the Firm has two mediations and an arbitration scheduled during the next week, in addition to other litigation deadlines that demand attention. In order to ensure that the proper attention is given to these matters, attorneys may not be available without prior appointment, even when they are in the office.

Although banks, government offices, and Arizona Courts are closed on Monday, due to client commitments Harper Law will be open by appointment. As is often the case, today will be a busy day at Harper Law. Our front office (Barbara) will be out most of the day participating in a training program at the Arizona Supreme Court. Attorney Brian Stines is scheduled to attend two hearings in the Maricopa County Superior Court before 10 a..m., and will be working the balance of the workday in the Firm's North Phoenix office at the CityNorth development.
